The Life of Michael Jackson
Monday, March 16th, 2009It was back on August 29th of 1958 that Michael Jackson was born. The Seventh born out of nine children, Michael had to grow up with 5 other brothers and 3 sisters in his home. He got into music at a young age as the lead singer of the group Jackson 5. The other members of the band included Jeramine, Marlon, Tito and Jackie.
The earlier years for the band meant playing in a plethora of clubs and the occasional party as well as competing in various competitions near their home. In 1968 though, the band’s luck would officially change for ever when Bobby Taylor and the Vancouvers would set them up for an interview with Berry Gordy. Upon hearing the Jackson 5, the group was immediately signed to Motown records setting them on their way, and some of their earlier work that they did back then you can still get on cheap dvd rental.
The entire family made their way to California after the signing where the Jackson 5 went on to record The Love You Save, I Want You Back as well as I’ll Be There; all of which were huge hits throughout the country.
While with Motown, the Jackson 5 would go on to make a total of fourteen albums and Michael Jackson would also release 4 of his own solo albums. In 1976 they made the switch to Epic and due to the fact that Motown owned the rights to the Jackson 5 name, they had to change their band name to the Jacksons. With Epic, the group released another 6 albums of which most were very big hits.
It was in his film debut on The Wiz where Michael Jackson would meet Quincy Jones and while with Quincy, the first album he released entitled Off the Wall featured 4 singles of which all of them went to number one on the charts. Next was the album Thriller which has one of the best sales in the world with more then 50 million copies of the album being sold to date.
The album Thriller got Michael a total of 8 Grammy Awards and it was through the creation of his “Short Films” or music videos that in 1984 the world would finally see the trademarked Moonwalk. These short films were important to Michael as they helped increase his sales dramatically so he put emphasis on making them perfect, using the latest technologies and hiring the best directors - you can still watch his pursuit of excellence at Neflix.
His first marriage was with Lisa Marie Presley who was the daughter of Elvis Presley, but this marriage was not to last and they wee divorced a short time later. He has since remarried and has had two children; the first being a boy followed by a girl. Since the recent scandal, he has chosen to move out of the country and is believed to be living in Bahrain.
